Joe Maiden, a regular contributor to our website and who also writes for Kitchen Garden magazine every month, tells us he has used Vitax products for over 40 years.  Many of those years were spent working in city parks and using Vitax Q4 fertiliser with fantastic success.

Joe says: In my own flower and vegetable garden I have had wonderful results with sweet peas using Vitax Q4 as a base fertiliser in my own compost mixes.  For my exhibition onions, leeks and celery, Vitax Q4 was added from seed sowing to planting out.  My young plants really grow well and I put this down to the product containing all the vital plant foods plus all the trace elements required for vigorous growth, which adds to good flowering and ripening.

I have not yet tried the Q4 Rootmore with mycorrhizal fungi, or the Tomato Feed.  This is on my list for next year – watch this space.

My daughter-in-law has a great way with cacti and uses the Cacti Fertiliser (available in 200g pots) also for her succulents.  I haven’t used the Bonsai Fertiliser yet, but this is an art form my family is interested in. With orchids now being so popular, this is another interest of mine, but I have always used an ordinary tomato feed – again, watch this space, I have ordered some Vitax Orchid Feed.

My other successes with Vitax fertilisers have been for roses (Organic Rose Food) and potatoes (Organic Potato Food), and I am amazed at the full range of wonderful products available from Vitax, from lawn care to the control of pests and diseases – yes, and those pesky wasps!
